Relax and unwind in this calm setting and enjoy the peace it will bring you.
Le Coutillard is nestled in rolling countryside, approximately 2 km/ just over a mile, outside the pretty medieval village of Parisot, in the stunning Tarn-et Garonne region of South West France. Lovingly created by Nick and Pippa, using their combined skills and experience, Le Coutillard provides a unique environment for you to enjoy your much deserved holidays and wellness breaks in this stunning part of France.
Please note to avoid any confusion to your travel, we are the Parisot in the Tarn-et-Garonne not the Parisot in the Tarn.
We love our area and use local suppliers and businesses at every opportunity. Our superbly appointed Roulottes ( Shepherd Huts ) were crafted to our particular specifications by a company in Toulouse.
Le Coutillard is set within 8 acres / 3.4 hectares of peaceful, private land, including two ponds attracting wildlife and bird life all year round, providing a perfect and tranquil setting. Along with our three roulottes (shepherd huts) we also have a stylish wooden cabin and a traditional stone gite, providing five bespoke rental options in total whilst ensuring there is plenty of space for all of our guests to relax and unwind. There is also a large swimming pool for our guests to enjoy and lounge beside during the long, hot summer summer days. A shady tree-lined footpath leads directly from the back of the property to the village for those who wish to leave the car behind and amble to the village for fresh bread or perhaps a coffee or a drink on the terrace of the village bar. Nick and Pippa live onsite in the converted stone farmhouse and are happy to be on hand to advise you if needed whilst respecting your privacy at all times.
One of our first discoveries in Parisot was the breathtaking night sky. With very little light pollution here, nature’s Astro show is quite spectacular. The Milky way is clear on most nights in the summer and shooting stars are plentiul. Its magical!
Le Coutillard has been featured on the channel 4 television programme, ‘A New Life in the Sun’. You can watch us on catch up More 4, Series 4,episodes 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20.
For families with young children we can provide cots, bedding and high chairs if needed.
Le Coutillard is dog-friendly and welcomes well-behaved dogs. Please contact us directly for further information regarding this.
The Village of Parisot
Parisot is a small and well-loved village, steeped in history with several buildings of historical note, including 'Le Chateau de l'Astorguie'. The chateau, which is now privately owned, was built around 1500. Among the attractive stone buildings there is a good restaurant, a cafe/bar, two bakeries, a village shop, a pharmacy, a medical centre and a post office. The cafe/bar La Maison, along with its warm welcome provides some good live music at its monthly jam sessions. There are two village boulangeries (bakeries) providing daily, freshly baked croissants, bread and other tasty treats.
Parisot has an Arts festival each July. In the autumn, the village hosts an Anglo/ French literary festival, Festilitt , which attracts high-profile and international authors, such as Kate Mosse. Both events are exceptionally well attended and respected within the Arts communities.
Just 2 km/just over a mile away from the Parisot village centre is Lac de Parisot providing various water sports including an aqua park and pedlos. In the day time, bring a picnic to share at one of the permanent picnic tables and stools set underneath the trees, dotted around the grassy edge of the water, and in the summer months, enjoy the man made beach area and have a cooling dip in the water. During the months of July and August you can discover the weekly Marche gourmand ( food market) with food, drink and music provided by local suppliers. With an ambience like no other, this is an incredible experience to savour and enjoy. There is also a very popular food and music festival , Festi’Lac, which takes place in August at the lake, which is great fun and concludes late in the evening with a rather impressive firework display.
A little bit about us.
We were both born in Beckenham, Kent and attended the same primary school. Nick left the UK aged 19 and spent the next 10 years living in Austria working as a ski instructor during the winter, and a rafting guide in the summer months. Pippa remained in the UK and had successful careers in both the beauty and dental industry.
Our paths reconnected again in 2006 and we were married in 2009. France very quickly became a regular choice for our travels, and it did not take long for us to dream about one day making it our home.
What followed was a good five years of research and planning. We would book holidays and short breaks whenever we could in between our busy work lives and schedules and visit France as often as possible. In 2015 we found ourselves in the beautiful medieval village of St Antonin Noble Val and we completely fell in love with The Tarn-et -Garonne region here in South West France. We decided that as far as a location was concerned, our search was over. From then on we returned again and again to the Tarn-et-Garonne and viewed many properties until we discovered Le Coutillard. We had found our special place. We finally bought ‘Le Coutillard’ in February 2017 and it is to this day still perfect for us, providing a wonderful family home for ourselves and the ideal location for our guests to spend their holidays. We would not change a thing !
Group Bookings
Over the past three years Le Coutillard has become popular with guests wishing to book the whole site. We are proud to say that we have had the privilege of helping visitors celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other important occasions.
The benefit of booking exclusively means that family and friends can come together to socialise and celebrate, making the most of our extensive private grounds, saltwater swimming pool and outside kitchen, which sits 16 comfortably. Our guests appreciate the way the space allows members of a large party to enjoy all that the Le Coutillard site has to offer yet enables people to have the privacy of their own accommodation for valuable downtime. Just one of the reasons why Le Coutillard works so well for a group holiday or celebration.
Bespoke, Unique and Catered Events.
Helping our guests enjoy themselves is our number one priority and our passion. After an increase in group bookings over the last 3 years we are confident that Le Coutillard is the perfect location and choice when it comes to celebrating any noteworthy occasion. For guests booking the whole site we are now delighted to offer you our recommendations and assistance to do this.
With our extensive local knowledge and reliable contacts, we will help you create the exceptional experience that you dream of. Whether it’s a wedding celebration, a birthday party, a social get together or a ‘just because we can’ few days, we are excited to welcome you. Please use the contact form to discuss his further.
After several successful, fun and quite often competitive, petanque (boules) competitions on our driveway, we are delighted to say that the playing conditions have gone up a gear and we now have our very own petanque court. All equipment, including a score board, is ready and waiting for enthusiastic games to be played- for fun or for prizes- that is entirely up to you!
We are however very aware that sometimes what guests crave is some quiet time, yet still be near their loved ones or friends, for those essential moments we have created various chill zones in the gardens: places to read a book, listen to music, meditate, or to catch up on some very important snoozing.
We are happy to arrange and book activities for you, such as restaurant reservations, wine tasting sessions, yoga classes and beauty treatments. We are also happy to organize a grocery shop for you before your arrival, to ensure that your holiday can start the minute you arrive at Le Coutillard.
In the past we have also been asked to source decorations, cakes and outside catering for guests special occasions. We can provide cool bags with ice packs, yoga mats and even a guitar. We are very happy to help you with any requests that you feel will enhance your stay. All you have to do is ask.
